Years ago I was in Red Lake Ontario on business. I came across a number of prints for sale in a shop. On talking to the owner he informed me that this was the old sight of a print shop run by native artists: Goyce Kakegamic, Carl Ray and Morrisseau.

The two prints I have are 1. Joy Riding and 2. Attention. Each run was limited to 79 prints (both of mine are signed and authenticated)and they were either produced in 1979.

    Hope this helps you.

      Dear Hope,

Based on your given information, it seems you have a ‘open edition’. These are editions with no limited production and therefore not numbered and signed.

I will make a new information page at my blog soon about ‘open editions’. Can you send me a good image of yours?

      Regards,

      Frank

I have a professionally framed signed copy 40/55 of ‘Ravens Speaking An Awareness of Middle Path’. I bought it in Toronto ca. 1986. Earlier provenance is not known.

      Dear Peter,

Thanks for you comment and info. This print is verry well known and I posted this print on my blog [click here].

The source of this print is very reliable and mentioned a edition size of 56. Can you send a close-up photo of your number.

Furthermore can you send a photo of the print with full paper, including the written title below the numbering and signature?

      Thanks in avdance,

      Frank

We are in possession of print 51/122 titled “Conversation”, however, the information on this site would indicate that the print should be titled “Communication”. Are we in possession of a fake?

    Ellie

  5. Frank Kortstee says:

    Dear Ellie,

Thanks for your alertness. You are correct. I have checked it with my sources and it is titled “Conversation”. I will change it directly.

    Thanks again,
    Frank

We have a signed print of Migration/The Great Flood number 1/48. We purchased it a number of years ago from a gallery in Sooke BC. It differs from the one that appears on your website. Do you require more information? I am interested to contribute to the research if we can help.
