This print is signed ‘in plate’ (lower left horizontal) with ‘Copper Thunderbird’ in Cree syllabics and hand signed in pencil (lower left horizontal) with ‘Norval Morrisseau’.
Note:
1) The one observed is Artist Proof #1 H.C. (Hand Colored). One of
Morrisseau’s dealer at the time has stated that from the AP’s made
before the limited edition, the red on the body and wings of the first
AP print did not print properly (not as bright as the rest). This is the
reason why Norval Morrisseau added red lines with acrilic paint onto
the first AP. It’s the only one like that, the rest of the run of prints turned
out properly bright.
